What Is Qi? The Vital Energy Behind Our Name

Ancient philosophers believed that beyond the four physical elements of earth, water, fire, and air there was a fifth — the quintessence — an invisible vital force that sustained all life. In Eastern medicine, this is Qi: the life energy that flows through the body along pathways called meridians.
When Qi moves freely and in balance, we are well. When it is disrupted — by stress, poor sleep, injury, or the seasons of life — illness follows. A foundational principle of Chinese Medicine says it simply:
Where there is free flow, there is no pain. Where there is pain, there is no free flow.
Every therapy we offer — acupuncture, moxibustion, herbal medicine, cupping — is, at its heart, a way of restoring that free flow.
This is the first note in our Wisdom & Wellness journal, where we will share health insights, seasonal guidance, and reflections from the tradition of Chinese Medicine.
